EVstudio is Hiring While Other A/E Firms are Laying Off

The last two years have been very difficult for the architecture and engineering professions. It has been estimated that as many as 25% of architectural firm employees are now out of work.

At EVstudio, its a different story. We're actually hiring and creating jobs. A few of our recent additions:

The Copperas Cove, Texas office added Derrick Kately to the staff as an experienced architectural designer.
EVstudio Texas has also added Chris Neiman as a summer intern to utilize his computer graphics skills.
The Colorado offices are in the final stages of adding another structural engineer to the staff.
We're currently advertising for an architect in Colorado with Bentley MicroStation experience.

Its an exciting time at EVstudio where we're both expanding the services we can offer and adding members to our team to provide value for our clients.

Job Opening for Architect at EVstudio Texas Office

The Copperas Cove, Texas office of EVstudio is currently seeking qualified candidates to join our architecture, engineering, and planning team. We have an immediate need for an entry level architect with light commercial project type experience.

Job Description:

This is a full time salaried position with flexible work hours in a business casual work environment. An entry level architect is needed to work under the direct supervision of the firm principal on a variety of light commercial projects including retail spaces, office buildings, medical office spaces, daycare facilities, civic projects, etc.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be licensed or in the final stages of testing for licensure in Texas. Candidates with at least 5 years of commercial architectural experience still completing IDP requirements will also be considered for the position.

Experience using AutoCAD as a construction document production tool, expert level proficiency in Autodesk Revit (knowledge and ability in AutoCAD 3D-Studio or Sketch-Up, a plus), expert use of MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint, min.), and advanced computer graphic skills (Adobe Photoshop preferred) are required.

Salary:

Salary will be commensurate with the education, experience, and professional skills of the accepted applicant.

While Architects Were Hard Hit in 2009, EVstudio Made Progress

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Architecture jobs were the worst hit in 2009. In 2009 the number of people employed in architecture dropped by 17.8% falling from 230,000 to 189,000. The construction slow down hit architecture jobs the worst but carpenters were a close second and construction workers were seventh.

Thankfully due to our loyal clients, our excellent staff and our flexibility 2009 was a good year for EVstudio. In 2009 we were able to announce the opening of our Texas office offering architecture and engineering from Copperas Cove. We were also able to avoid lay offs and actually add two additional Colorado licensed architects. 2009 saw the growth of our structural department under the leadership of Jim Houlette, PE. We also designed and saw dozens of projects constructed for our clients.
